Copenhagen Denmark - David Jenkins, a native of Ironton Ohio, was hailed as a hero when he ran into a burning building at the Carlsberg Brewery in Copenhagen Denmark late Monday evening to rescue a trapped cat. The blaze started in a section of the warehouse that the cat typically patrols to control rodents. Jenkins, a recent hire of Carlsberb, was working late Monday evening when he smelled smoke. "I knew something was wrong" said Jenkins "when we all evacuated but the cat was nowhere to be seen. I had to do something."
Jenkins acted quickly and dashed into the burning building to locate his feline coworker. "I found the cat with his tail pinned under a heavy wooden beam. Jenkins, who frequently boasted on Facebook about frequently lifting weights, freed the cat and rushed him to safety. "I had never given a cat mouth-to-mouth before, but he wasn't breathing, so I overcame the smell of tuna and recussitated him."
Local veterinarians said Jenkins fast action and impromptu CPR saved the cat's life. The Carlsberg Brewery, however, was a total loss.
