Researchers and doctors at KU Leuven medical school in Belgium have just released the results of a comprehensive study into the causes behind cancer, and the results are upending centuries of conventional wisdom and dietary counsel. The study took place in coordination with medical schools and oncologists throughout Europe over a 10 year period. Over 500,000 Cancer subjects were Involved in the study whose results are shocking both the medical and dietary communities worldwide.
"We never imagined this result when we started the study," explained Doctor Johan Swinnen, the head of the Leuven Cancer Institue at KU Leuven. "We expected obesity or sugar consumption or processed foods to be the major contributor of carcinogens found in humans. Instead we found that this simple fruit, the tomato, to be the leading cause." KU Leuven, a leading medical school Europe has been at the cutting edge of cancer research for the past 50 years. The results of this study are sure to be met with skepticism explained Doctor Swinnen, "It is interesting to contemplate that the tomato's very nature hints at this danger. It is a fruit that is often misreguarded as a vegetable. It lives this lie, almost as if warning us not to trust it. Oddly, we also found that when used in paste or sauce form, the carcinogenic effect completely disappeared."
