During the afternoon of Monday, June 26th, An 8Ft. Bull Shark was seen off of the popular Buttons Bay area of Lake Geneva. Athough Bull Sharks are known to be able to swim between salt water and fresh water, typically they are only found in tropical rivers around the world. This species in Lake Geneva was like a discarded pet that outgrew its tank and was illegally dumped into the lake with an ample food supply of bait fish and deep depths of this spring fed glacier formed lake. Boaters and swimmers on Lake Geneva are on high alert as the Summer boat season is in high gear ahead of the popular 4th of July weekend. Residents are asked to report any new sightings. A team of experienced shark hunters will be attempting to catch the bull shark this week, and have already begun dropping chum around the lake.
