Gold mine discovered under vacant Fortville building.

Fortville IN:

Residents of the sleepy town of Fortville were recently renovating a two story building and discovered a turn of the 18th century abandoned gold mine. Apparently the mine was forgotten as the property changed hands throughout the years. While repairing the floors of the building, the resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, came upon the old mine shaft and was shocked at the discovery.

Experts were called in to evaluate the structure and viability of the old mine and quickly discovered that a significant amount of gold had been left behind as it was too small for 18th century technology to obtain. Estimates for the gold left range from a conservative 3 to 5 million dollars at the June 2017 rate. Building owners have filed a claim on the building and actively seeking mining permits to remove the dust before someone else finds the tunnels under their property.

The mine also contained some interesting finds including 3 moustache bar bicycles of various heights up to one over 14 ft tall, an early 3 wheel horse drawn party wagon complete with musicians area and the remains of two polar bears and a single horned Pegasus statue, of which the head was removed.
