Costco CEO W. Craig Jelinek was recently visiting stores in the Chicago and Indianapolis market, where one manger at an Indianapolis Costco approached Jelinek and shared with him Costco memes of an employee from the Merrillville, Indiana Costco. The memes began when the significant other and family member of the Costco employee were at dinner when the employee stated that "Costco samples are better than Palermo's Pizza" The two were shocked that he stated that. The duo than began to make memes of the Costco employee, where it began a viral outpoor. Some of the memes included "Cash me at Costco, how bou dat"? , "Writes himself up for low performance" Wants to take engagement photo's at Costco" were just some of the few hundreds of the memes posted online. The memes finally reached Jelinek and he is thrilled to see an employee engaged as much as him. We reached out to the Merrillville Costco where it all began. The managers and supervisors had nothing but great things to say about the memes as well at the employee, now identified as supervisor David Somodi. Somodi has been employed at Costco since 2011 where he is very well liked and advancing with the company. Somodi "Mr. Costco" has worked in all the departments and has dreams of becoming the next CEO for Costco when Jelinek retires. Jelinek plans to reach out to Somodi to discuss the memes and possibly a career in marketing at corporate headquarters in Issaquah, Washington.
